Citizen friendly policing
Community Policing in Mafia

The citizen friendly policing training was conducted to security stakeholders including district security committee in Mafia District.

Hanns Seidel Foundation, in collaboration with Tanzania Police Force (TPF), held a citizen-friendly policing training in Mafia District which is in coastal region. The training was conducted from March 13th to 19th, 2022. The district security committee, district management team, ward councilors,special seat councilors, ward executive officers, village chairpersons, village executive officers, district police officers, and the public in two villages were among the beneficiaries of the citizen friendly policing training. A total of 291 participants were trained, among them 87 women and 204 men.  Senior officials from the police headquarters in Dodoma facilitated the training, including the commissioner of police (CP) Dr. Mussa Ali Mussa, who is the commissioner of community policing commission therefore   oversees citizen friendly policing program in collaboaration with Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) and Chief of Community Policing Engelbert Kiondo. In the promotion of the citizen-friendly policing philosophy, the program also drew facilitators from civilian institutions such as the University of Dar es Salaam represented by Elijah Kondi and Dr. Kevin Mandopi  from the Institute of Judicial Administration Lushoto. Mr. Karl-Peter Schönfisch, Hanns Seidel Foundation Resident Representative for Tanzania and Uganda graced the training in Mafia district.
