A joint police training workshop in Thailand

The best practices exchange between Tanzania Police Force and Royal Thai Police facilitated by Hanns Seidel Foundation

Tanzanian police officers recently attended a joint police training workshop in Thailand from November 21st to November 25th 2022. The Royal Thai Police and Hanns Seidel Foundation organized the workshop which centered around the creation of citizen-friendly policing modules based on the Bavarian Police philosophy.

Tanzania Police Force was represented by the Chief of Police Force Mr. Camilius Mongoso Wambura,  Mr. Faustine Shilogile, Commissioner of Community Engagement  and other high-level police officials. The workshop was facilitated by Bavarian police experts who made a significant contribution to the module development discussions.

The delegation trip was led by Mr. Karl-Peter Schönfisch, Hanns Seidel Foundation Resident Representative for Tanzania and Uganda and Mr. Ombeni Mhina, Hanns Seidel Foundation Senior Project Officer and liaison person for police project attended the workshop. 

The training was an opportunity for the Tanzanian Police Force to engage in a triangle dialogue with the Royal Thai Police and the Bavarian Police, promoting cooperation and mutual learning. The exchange of experiences between the participants contributed to a constructive and exciting workshop.

The joint police training was organized as part of efforts to enhance international collaboration in the field of community engagement in the prevention of crimes. By participating in such programs, the Tanzanian Police Force has benefited from the experiences and best practices of their counterparts in Thailand and Germany, ultimately improving the quality of policing services for Tanzanian citizens.

The participation of the Tanzanian Police Force in the joint police training workshop is a significant step towards the further development of citizen-friendly policing practices in Tanzania. The knowledge and experiences gained from this training are expected to lead to improved citizen friendly policing practices among police officers as well as citizens.
