Tanzania Relief Initiatives (TRI) with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), conducted a two day anti–human trafficking capacity building training at Seashells Millennium Hotel in Dar es Salaam on the 3rd and 4th of December 2025. The training brought together 40 officers (22) men and (18) women from Dar es Salaam region to strengthen their ability to identify, prevent and respond to human trafficking. The sessions equipped participants with practical skills on legal frameworks, victim protection, case handling and inter-agency coordination to improve frontline response.

In officiating the event, Mr. Celestine Makoba, Head of Training and International Cooperation at the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Secretariat, emphasized why the training is essential, noting:

“Tanzania remains a source, transit and destination country for human trafficking. Our borders are vulnerable and youths from poorer families are particularly at risk. The Government of Tanzania greatly appreciates this training, which has been an eye-opener for our officers. We extend our gratitude to Tanzania Relief Initiatives for organizing the program, and to the Hanns Seidel Foundation for providing the funding that made this training possible.”

This training forms part of the Government's ongoing efforts through the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Secretariat and its collaborators in particular Tanzania Relief Initiatives

(TRI) which is supported by HSF to strengthen national capacity, enhance coordination and improve protection for vulnerable communities across Tanzania.
