Deputy Minister commends HSF good governance training.
Strengthening Grassroots Governance in Iramba District
Dr. Festo John Dugange, Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), flanked by Mr. Frank Gollwitzer, Resident Representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation Tanzania, on his right, together with the Iramba District Commissioner and other district officials.
Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Tanzania, together with its implementing partner, Civic Education Forum in Tanzania (CETA), in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), conducted a Good Governance Training attended by 100 local government leaders (29 women and 71 men) from Iramba District Council-Singida Region. The training was graced by Dr. Festo John Dugange, Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PO-RALG), who emphasized the critical role of local government leaders in driving Tanzania's development agenda. Addressing the participants, he urged them to carry out their responsibilities with confidence, integrity and a high sense of accountability, reminding them that they are role models for their communities. He noted that the performance of local government authorities is a key measure of the country's overall success and challenged participants to translate the knowledge gained into improved service delivery and responsive local governance.
In his remarks, Mr. Frank Gollwitzer, Hanns Seidel Foundation Tanzania Resident Representative expressed his sincere appreciation to the Prime Minister's Office for its strong collaboration and for honouring the event with the participation of the Deputy Minister. He noted that the Government's engagement demonstrates the high value placed on strengthening the capacity of local government leaders, particularly at the grassroots level where public services have the greatest impact on citizens. Mr. Gollwitzer also commended HSF's implementing partner, Civic Education Forum in Tanzania (CETA) for its professionalism and continued commitment to delivering high quality governance training that responds to the practical needs of local leaders across Tanzania.
Concluding his address, Mr. Gollwitzer expressed his confidence that, he believes the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training would be translated into action by the participants, leading to measurable improvements in governance and public service delivery throughout Iramba District council. The training forms part of Hanns Seidel Foundation's long-standing commitment to promoting good governance, democratic leadership and accountable local government institutions in Tanzania. This is implemented through strategic partnerships with government institutions and civil society organizations. By investing in the capacity of grassroots leaders, HSF continues to contribute to building effective, transparent and citizen-centred local governance for sustainable national development.
