On October 10, 2024, a  community policing training was held in Mara Region, aiming at strengthening the capabilities of 141 Ward Police Officers. Among the participants of the training were 16 female officers and 125 male officers, all of whom received crucial insights into the principles and practices of community policing. The training addressed a significant gap, as many officers had previously been posted to their wards without prior induction into the community policing training.

The intensive training provided ward police officers with vital knowledge and practical skills to engage more effectively with grassroot communities. Key lessons included proactive strategies for crime prevention at both the ward and village levels, enabling officers to address potential issues before they escalate.

Beyond enhancing individual competencies, the training strengthened a sense of networking and collaboration among themselves, encouraging the exchange of experiences and best practices. This shared understanding is expected to contribute to more coordinated and effective efforts in maintaining peace and security throughout the region. The initiative marks an important step in strengthening community relations and ensuring a safer environment for all residents in Mara region.
