Reflecting on the directives she issued in 2023, President Samia praised the progress made in expanding community policing, deploying ward police officers nationwide and integrating technology into the police operations.

Moshi, Tanzania – During the 60th-anniversary celebrations of the Tanzania Police Force at the Tanzania Police School in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, President Samia Suluhu Hassan commended the police for their unwavering dedication to national security. She applauded their efforts over six decades, acknowledging the sacrifices made by officers, particularly during times of unrest and celebrated the police key milestones.

The President emphasized the crucial role of trust and collaboration between the police and the community, stating, “The police should be trusted partners with the community to maintain peace in the country.”

Reflecting on the directives she issued in 2023, President Samia praised the police for their progress in expanding community policing by deploying ward officers across the country and advancing technological integration within the force. The success of community policing, is closely tied to the partnership with Hanns Seidel Foundation, which has supported the program since 2018. Originally the partnership was established in 2007, the collaboration strategically refocused on community policing in 2018, contributing significantly to crime reduction through stronger community engagement. President Samia applauded the program's national implementation and recognized its tangible positive impact on national security.

President Samia also reaffirmed her commitment to her 4Rs leadership philosophy—reconciliation, resilience, reforms, and rebuilding—as key to fostering national unity and peace. With local government elections on the horizon, she urged all political actors to act responsibly and warned against attempts to disrupt the nation’s peace.
