Crimes Prevention rather than Combating
Citizen Friendly Policing in Arusha Region

Tanzania Police Force has embarked on the prevention of Crimes rather than combating it.

TPF in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation has embarked on prevention of crimes rather than combating it. The citizen friendly policing training was conducted from 13th to 17th of February 2023 covering two districts of Arusha and Arumeru. The training benefited 395 participants (128) female and (267) male. The target groups included regional security committee, district security committees, police Officers, ward and village leaders. Arusha region is one of the regions with high prevalance of crimes in Tanzania which eminates from crime of passion, land conflicts, gender based violence as well as witchcraft related matters. 

In his remarks, the commissioner of community engagement Mr. Faustine Shilogile emphasized the new direction of Chief of Police Force on prevention of crimes rather than combating it after the crime has happened. To achieve the prevention of crimes, TPF has deployed the ward police officers countrywide to ensure police are closer to the people so as to prevent crimes.
